July Steel Shipments Up 1.7 Percent From Previous Year
 The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of July 2017, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,480,241 net tons, a 3.3 percent decrease from the 7,736,846 net tons shipped in the previous month, June 2017, and a 1.7 percent increase from the 7,352,698 net tons shipped in July 2016. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 52,939,327 net tons, a 2.8 percent increase vs. 2016 shipments of 51,491,101 net tons for seven months.
A comparison of July shipments to the previous month of June shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 3 percent, cold rolled sheets, down 4 percent and hot rolled sheets, down 6 percent.
